The open-source quantum operating system.

Qubix is an attempt to create a Unix-like operating system that will be able to handle the computing needs of quantum technology at some point in the not-so-distant future. It will utilize the paradigms of common operating system practices, particularly those revolving around the primary concepts of virtualization, concurrency, and persistence; however, it will introduce new paradigms as needed to adjust to the non-classical computing techniques which will inevitably surface with the advent of this new and exciting technology.

Our research is continually updated as we monitor new developments in the field, and the practices we employ in the management of this project are always evolving. Of course, this project will not attain wide usage until the manufacturing of quantum computers is made scalable, although it is not certain whether the breakthroughs needed for this to happen will come in 5 years or 50. In the meantime, we are focused on developing new and divergent ways of thinking about quantum technology so that when the hardware does finally emerge in a consumer market, our software will be there to meet it.

Qubix is a very small project at this time.
